For every Tuesday of this semester i have been having lessons on Multi-Media Platform Techniques. I've found them extremely useful and here's why.
I feel i learnt the most in the lessons we had on the Web despite thinking at first i would learn the least compared to the other classes. I already have a blog but i learnt how to upload videos onto YouTube of my own and then transfer them on to blogger to make them fit. Also how to publish soundclips on to here through a site called SoundCloud. I was also taught how to adjust pictures on PhotoShop to get the best out of them. If i could have done anything better i would have asked more about working with HTML codes for my blog.
Due to snow we missed a TV lesson which meant that i only had one lesson (i was ill for the first). But in the lesson i did have i learnt all the terms (51 in total :O) that are used around the studios and how to use a video recording device.Editing after was difficult but i soon learnt my way around it all.
Learning how to structure a radio News story in the Radio classes was the most useful thing i learnt. If i could go back and do anything better i would have spent more time in the studio booths working on my radio voice ;)
I feel that i learnt an awful lot in my print lessons. I was taught how to use InDesign, formatting photos and getting the right size font. I learnt how to get my story and get it all done in time for my deadline. I would get more stories and make my own A3 spread to get more practice with InDesign next time.
By Cas the journo.
