Floorball. Have you played yet?

So i went out to find out a bit about this latest popular sport! Floorball. I spoke to one of Farnhams trainers and spokes person and a member of one of their teams. Have a read and learn a little or possibly a lot about Floorball!

Even though not many will have heard of this latest sport sweeping Britain, Floorball is anything but new. The simple structure of a game of Floorball is enticing many new-comers to pick up a stick and play. Without any previous knowledge of Floorball people are more willing to have a go, especially since it’s a low violence sport and there are less than a handful of rules, anyone can play.  With only the need of a plastic hockey like stick from £20, a light weight plastic ball of £1 and a pair of trainers you can go and play this sport practically anywhere, although I’d take care of getting on your neighbours nerves.
Floorball has been around since the 1970’s, where it was created in Sweden and the first world cup was played in 1996. It’s slowly in the process of being recognised by the sports officials as a worthy game to include in the 2020 Olympics. It is already included as a module in EdExcels GCSE and A Level examinations.
Farnham has 2 of their own Floorball clubs, the Farnham Fireballs and the Shooting Stars. I spoke with a teammate from the Farnham Fireballs, Louie Goodman who has been playing for 4 years and is only 13 years old. Louie described his favourite pastime Floorball as a fast and fun sport to play and insists that the training for Floorball helps his footing in tennis and badminton too.
Floorball also known as Uni-hockey is a great for not only men but women too, with the option of staying on for as long or as short as you like in a game, uni-hockey is suitable for any range of fitness, making sure you get as much or as little time on the rink as you wish. Louie explained that ‘’Floorball has helped me make new friends but it’s also good because my friends can play too’’
Farnham sports centre, newly refurbished enables locals to go and play Uni-hockey in a full sized indoor rink providing the sticks and balls. This sport is so universal because there is a no violence rule, the sticks are kept below the waste ensuring that there is minimum chance of injury. Peter Goodman local coach to the Farnham teams enthusiastically boasted that in 34 years of training there have been no major accidents, in all the years the worst case has been a twisted ankle. The only player in a team that wears protective clothing is the goal minder, this player is the only one without a stick and has to use their protected hands to block the ball whilst on hands and knees.
Floorball is a sport that has no age, unlike ice-hockey and field hockey where you have a player’s peak performance age. You don’t have to be young or tall or sporty. Uni-hockey can be played by the young and old and is often played by retired professional sports men and women to keep active. Even if you don’t seek a career in Floorball there are many who keep playing in local teams.
Being such a versatile sport it’s the perfect game to start playing in school in P.E lessons, and recently schools have been trying to collaborate with the sports centres so that they can achieve their target of getting children to take part in 5 hours of sport a week. Which at the moment sounds quite a leap but the teachers and coaches have every confidence in reaching this objective. In playing Floorball at school, children are far more likely to enjoy the game and choose to play it outside of curriculum too, with the ability to play virtually anywhere, thus reaping the benefits of the extra activeness in their spare time.

WILLLOW SMITH - whip my hair.

This music industry is just choca block full of these youngsters pumping out the latest tunes on RadioOne! And the newest is Will Smiths' 10 year old daughter WILLOW SMITH. With her song 'Whip My Hair' she reached No.2 this week in the UK charts. For her age i think that's bloody incredible! Only 10 years old!
Personally i don't rate the song much :/ it's a little repetitive and annoying for me. But it is most defiantly a song that will keep ticking over in your head for hours after. You won't forget it!

But it's not only little WILLOW SMITH that's cracking the charts in the UK from over seas! JUSTIN BIEBER has caused quite a stir amongst the girls over in this pond! With a top selling album at only 17 we better watch this space! It's nice to see pop back into children's lives! When i was younger there were tones of pop bands and singers to look up to and sing into a hair brush along with! BRITANY SPEARS, S CLUB 7, STEPS, BUSTED, i could go on but i think i am already embarrassing myself.

Listening to the radio though i think that the English/British (whatever) talent is increasing and we have so many more singers/bands to be proud of! Check the charts out yourself! I know we are bombarded with the latest hit from the USA but i really believe we have so much to be proud of. There is an incredible amount of talented teenagers, children, women and men here in the UK. We just need to keep our ears and eyes peeled! We all love those reality shows X Factor and Britains' Got Talent but go out too! Check out a local bar for open mic night, who knows you might meet the next MATT CARDLE!

A Little About How My Course Is Going :)

For every Tuesday of this semester i have been having lessons on Multi-Media Platform Techniques. I've found them extremely useful and here's why.
I feel i learnt the most in the lessons we had on the Web despite thinking at first i would learn the least compared to the other classes. I already have a blog but i learnt how to upload videos onto YouTube of my own and then transfer them on to blogger to make them fit. Also how to publish soundclips on to here through a site called SoundCloud. I was also taught how to adjust pictures on PhotoShop to get the best out of them. If i could have done anything better i would have asked more about working with HTML codes for my blog.
Due to snow we missed a TV lesson which meant that i only had one lesson (i was ill for the first). But in the lesson i did have i learnt all the terms (51 in total :O) that are used around the studios and how to use a  video recording device.Editing after was difficult but i soon learnt my way around it all.
Learning how to structure a radio News story in the Radio classes was the most useful thing i learnt. If i could go back and do anything better i would have spent more time in the studio booths working on my radio voice ;)
I feel that i learnt an awful lot in my print lessons. I was taught how to use InDesign, formatting photos and getting the right size font. I learnt how to get my story and get it all done in time for my deadline. I would get more stories and make my own A3 spread to get more practice with InDesign next time.

The royal wedding

This is what i made whilst in a TV class. Let me just explain one thing .... it was bloody free-ee-eezing! That was the day that is snowed and pulled the whole town of Farnham to a stop. But i have decided that TV isn't for me. I don't think i'll be taking it as a module next semester haha.
BUT.........
i Do want to know what you think of the Royal Wedding (: Personally i think there is wayyy too much coverage on this couple! They are only young, and they haven't got married yet. Do we really need documentaries and book after biographies on them? Who are these publishers target audience because i really wouldn't care for reading a whole book on them!
They do generally seem a lovely couple together (: I for one am very happy for them SO If you're reading this Prince Will or Kate? (who often drop by hahaha) 'Many congratulations :)'

So comment and tell me what you think about it all? You must be pretty cherpy that we get a nice super long weekend! I am FO SURE!!!!!!

regards your sweet CAS (: Keep reading!

Glee on X-Factor

Anyone catch Glee on X-Factor on Sunday? I made my Boyfriend sit there with me to watch it despite his detesting both shows : ) As happy as Glee makes me feel inside i found it a little disapointing! Lea Michele who plays Rachel in the show was too......well she was just tring to be too profesional. But not enough if you know what i mean? In the show she is over the top and thats what we love about her! But on Subnday she was just too perfect. I didn't like how Mercedes screamed her famous note in the face of Simon Cowel either. I think it was a little in the face? Excuse the pun, not intended! And where was Chris Colfer? (Kurt) Replacing him with a tall blonde? Bad choice! I noticed! Maybe i need to be a little more light hearted. I mean it is mean't to be fun! Ok ok i'm being a scrooge! It did make me happy and get up and dance (: i admit i am being a little harsh.
See it? Agree with me or not?

Kings of Leon - Come Around Sundown (2010)

So i've finally sat down to listen to the mighty Kings of Leon's new album. I know i know i should have done earlier, but i just felt that it would either shatter my love of Kings or make them too big for their boots.
So beginning with The End.... i'm sorry but it really doesn't do it for me. It doesn't have the Kings of Leon feel to it. That's not to say that the whole album is devoid of that sleek jam rockin' that the Followil's fabulously create! Radioactive for instance is certainly a steering wheel slappin' tune to drive along to in the summer sun! But i'm afraid it doesn't get better. In fact it peaks at the second song! I wasn't impressed with album at all really, very disappointed! It feels as if they have just tried to be what they were, but leaving out the main ingredient! soul! Caleb is singing too clear this album! Where is the mystery in what he is saying? This album sounds too Hollywood, like they are playing the Band game. Stick to your roots boys!
What do you think? Disagree? Tell me (:
